VALUE DEPRECIATES ON ROAD. RAILWAY COMPETITION JUSTIFIED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, April 28. The president of the A. and P. Association reported to to-day’s meeting that over 23,000 sheep and 16,350 cattle had left this district during the past season on escort, which justified the completion of the railway. He contended that the arduous journey by road depreciates the value of the sheep by about 2s 6d, so that a considerable sum was wasted, and was a direct economic loss. _
