MEETING HELD AT THE KENNELS. GOOD DAY’S SPORT REALISED. Though the official opening meet does not take place until next week the Taranaki Hunt Club staged a special run cn Mr. J. B. Mabih’s property on Waiau Road near the kennels on Saturday afternoon. The weather was dull but fine and there was a good muster of between 20 and 30. Several hares were put up but the abundant cover enabled them to make their escape. There was one kill after a fine run of about a mile. Among those mounted were the Master (Mr. W. T. Joll) on Shamin, the deputy masters, I. Cole on Mataro, and R. Foreman on Razor, E. Rooke (huntsman) on Sideshot, G. Young (Whip) on Rin, Misses Hili (Moneyboy), H. Cole (Nirpblefoot), Purdie (Ginger), M. Knight (Loma Doon), McKay (Penelope), C. Ryan (Gingerette), T. Cole (White Foot), Edna Hicks (Ngareta), Cocker (Ngaawa), Fergusson (Queenie Mond), Mesdamea R. Foreman (Rapid Fire), Whitehead (Dusk), Martin (Michael Shimose), Messrs. P. Cole (King Cole), R. Topless (Moerangi), J. B. Mabin (Draft), A. Hill (Hilton), H. Dulieu (Anchises), J. M. Pine (Mehal), H. Garner (Potere), E. Cole (a chestnut) and G. Ayton. Visitors in cars included Mr. A. R. Standish, Mrs. W. T. Hookham, rs. Walton, Mr. and Mrs. S. Topless, Mr. A. H. Halcombe, Mr. G. E. Jago, Mrs. R. W. D. Robertson, Mrs. F. H. Blundell, Misses M. Robertson and E. Blundell, and Mr. J. N. Bell.
