GOLF TOURNAMENT SURPRISE
VICTORY FOR UNKNOWN PLAYER. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. London, April 26. To-day’s big surprise in the Formby golf tournament was the defeat of Michael Scott by Frazier, a young and unknown Birmingham player. Scott was two up at the seventh and turned all square. Frazier then recorded par figures to the 16th. Moore-Brabazon, though taken to the 20th. in the fourth round, putted brilliantly, taking only 29 putts for 20 holes. Fourth Round: Frazier defeated Michael Scott 3 up and 2; J. Todd (Darlington) defeated Oppenheimer 2 and 1. Fifth Round: Bentley beat Colonel Moore-Brabazon 8 up and 6; Lucas (a schoolboy) beat General Critchtley (French amateur champion) 5 up and 4; T. Thirsk (Bridlington) beat Frazier 3 up and 1.
