AUROA NEWS

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S HOCKEY. The Auroa Men's Hockey Club on Monday played a friendly match against Oeo, the game resulting in scores of 3-all. The Auroa scorers were L. Lyndon (2) and D. Benton. The Auroa girls’ hockey team on Tuesday played a friendly match against Otakeho and won by 5 to 1. Misses M. Webby scored two goals, Vera King two and U. West one for Auroa, while Miss P. Freeman scored one for Otakeho. Mr. C. Davies refereed. The, Auroa Methodists on Tuesday held the first of a monthly series of socials, which proved very successful. A pumber of visitors attended. The Rev. H. Cottom presided. The evening was pleasantly spent with games and competitions, interspersed with items. The competitions were won by Mrs. Warren and Miss Margaret Warren. The Rev. R. Millar sang ‘The March o: the Cameron Men” and Miss Margaret Silby and Messrs. Silby played violiu and guitar items. Miss E. Warren played two pianoforte solos. On Friday evening another very successful reel class was held, there being many visitors presen. Mr. J. C. Duff was master of ceremonies and Messrs. Austin Williamson and Gordon Kirn provided good music. Miss Munro will take up duties at the Auroa school after the holidays. No pains are being spared to ensure the success of rhe Catholic ball at Auroa on May 9, when there will be fruit salads and trifles for supper as well as good music and a good floor.
