EUCHRE, DANCING AND PING PONG ■Owing to" other attractions the euchre party and dance in aid of the Ohangai Football Club on Tuesday night attracted only a small attendance. Euchre was played and the prizes were won by Miss E. Frahm (nine games) and Mr. Katene (eight games). Music for the dancing was played by Messrs. S. and G. Kerrisk and Mr. G. Cunningham was master of ceremonies. An enjoyable evening was spent by members of the Ping Pong Club on Monday, when the second of the weekly practices was held. Ladder matches were played and some excellent games resulted. KAPONGA PICTURES TO-NIGHT DOUBLE STAR PROGRAMME. A machine that could locate and intercept conversation regarding valuables, detect and mercilessly destroy any living object—in tire hands of a criminal—a maniac, a “Man The Couldn’t Arrest.” These are sufficient ingredients for a first-class mystery story which “The Man They Couldn’t Arrest,” the Gainsborough picture which British Dominions Films are presenting at Kaponga tonight, undoubtedly is. Adapted from “Seamark’s” celebrated thriller of the same name, this picture has been brought to the screen replete with every spine-chilling episode that made the novel as popular as it is. The second picture on to-night’s programme is “Min and Bill,” starring the screen's most celebrated artists, Marie Dressier and Wallace Beery. DOUBLE STAR AT MANAIA. Who was he? “The Man They Couldn’t Arrest.” Now here, now there, the most elusive criminal Britain’s Scotland Yard had ever tried to track to his lair. He defied law and order—until the web of strong evidence slowly but surely encircled him, and after one of the most thrilling denouements ever brought to the talking picture screen, it is revealed that is the “Man • They Couldn’t Arrest.” The picture will be shown at Manaia to-night . The supporting picture on to-night's programme is a good Western comedy-drama starring the best, of all Western actors, Buck Jones.
