DAIRYING COMMISSION
SITTING ON MONDAY WEEK TWO SECRETARIES APPOINTED. MESSRS. RIDDET AND FAWCETT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The announcement that Professor W. Riddet, of Massey Agricultural College, and Mr. E. J. Fawcett, Department of Agriculture, had been appointed to act as secretaries to the Royal Commission which is to investigate the dairy industry was made this evening by the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. C. E. Macmillan. The commission will hold its first sitting on Monday week. MR. WILKINSON’S SUGGESTIONS. REPLY FROM PRIME MINISTER. The following telegram has been received by Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., in reply to his communication to the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, requesting the Government to include in the order of reference for the Royal Commission on the dairy industry an inquiry into the general financial position of the dairy farmer, especially in relation to capital and interest payments on land and stock mortgages:—
• “Your telegram received. I have noted your suggestions for order of • reference in connection with dairy industry Royal Commission and shall be glad to give them careful consideration—G. W. Forbes.”
Mr. Wilkinson has acknowledged the Prime Minister’s telegram in the followings terms: “Your telegram regarding inquiry dairy industry duly received. I have noted same with satisfaction and am fully hopeful that you will accede to the very strong request throughout this district that the order of reference be amended in the direction intimated. I will be gald to have your earliest reply advising the final decision.”
