TAHORA CHURCH DANCE
GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS. To raise funds for the Church of England a dance was held at Tahora last Friday. Music was supplied by. the Kohuratahi orchestra, Mrs. Carver (piano), Mr. Con. O’Dea (saxophone), and the Reverend Fussell (oboe). Mr. R. Cleland was master of ceremonies. A guessing competition was won by Mr. Fussell. The necessity for lighting the Tahora station at night was evidenced twice lately. One passenger on the express who intended to alight at Tangarakau, stepped off at Tahora. Too late he discovered his mistake and walked the intervening four miles. A similar experience befel a passenger intending to disembark at Kohuratahi. Since the removal of the light to Whangamomona station the Tahora station has been in complete darkness. Work on the Moki tunnel is steadily progressing through the work of a gang of 50 men. The approach to the Tahora side of the tunnel is under way. The bush has been cleared and road formation on the far side has been commenced. Messrs J. Henry and R. Syme, inspector and agricultural instructor respectively, visited the Tahora school on Thursday. Mrs. Matilda B. Drader is visiting her father, Mr. E. Nicholson, New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. R. Kennedy are on holiday at Temuka. i Mr. and Mrs. Jory, Stratford, were the guests of Mr. .and Mrs. Birss. i Mr. F. Boulton went on a fishing expedition at Easter. He was bar-bound for several hours and was considerably delayed in his return home. ■ JUDGING OF DAIRY PRODUCE. LOWGARTH COMPANY SUGGESTION A motion recommending the Dairy Board to appoint two British judges to officiate at all winter shows in New Zealand where dairy produce is being judged was adopted yesterday by the directors of the Lowgarth Co-op. Dairy Company.
