OLYMPIC AND EMPIRE GAMES
DOMINION ASSOCIATION MEETS. PLANS FOR NEW ZEALAND TEAM. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association was held to-night, when the chairman, Mr. H. McCormick, gave a brief survey of what had happened up to date in connection with the British Empire games to be held in London from August 4 to 11. The New Zealand team, he said, would probably consist of six or seven men. No final nominations had yet been received from the affiliated national associations, the only definite ones being the bowlers, who had already sailed. Associations were being asked to put up £4O for each man. An invitation had been received from Canada for the New Zealand team to compete their either on its way to the Games or on the return journey. The Olympic Council had decided it was not practicable for the team to compete in Canada on the way to London. Whether it would be practicable to return via Canada would probably be decided when the team was in England. The estimated cost for each man was £6O, an additional £2O to be provided by the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association. It was decided that the final selection of the team should be left to the executive and that nominations close on April 20- , , . The following officers were elected: Patron, Lord Bledisloe; vice-patron, Sir Michael Myers; president, Mr. G. W. Forbes; vice-presidents, presidents of the affiliated associations and Messrs. J. G. Coates, P. N. Rundle, A. J. Davies and R. J. Hobbs; chairman of the council, Mr H. McCormick; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. H. Amos; auditor, Mr. J. H. Turner; hon. medical officers, Drs. Luke and Slater. Before the election of officers Messrs. H. Amos, Earl Stewart and H. McCormick were elected as co-opted members of the council.
