LONDON’S TRADE INCREASE
25TH ANNIVERSARY OF AUTHORITY. HUGE SUMS SPENT ON NEW WORKS. By Telegraph—Press Assn-Copyright. Rec. 7 p.m. London, March 31. How the trade of London has increased in the past 25 years is shown in the report of the Port of London Authority, •which is to-day celebrating the 25th. adversary of its formation. In 1909 the total net registered tonnage of vessels arriving and departing from the port amounted to 38,510,989; 'in 1933 the tontaage was 56,480,004. The total weight of goods imported and exported to and from London in 1933 was 35,870,004 tons. Complete statistics of the tonnage of goods dealt with in 1909 are not available, but particulars of overseas imports show an increase during 25 years Something like 25 per cent. During this period the authority spent over £20,000,600 on new works.
