MAJOR J. MACKINTOSH BEU* SIX YEARS AGO IN NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rec. 7 p.m. Ottawa, March XL Major J. Mackintosh Bell, a famous geologist and mining man, died to-day at Almonte, Ontario. He was in New Zealand for six years as director of a geological survey. Shortly before return? ing to Canada in 1933 he was elected president of the Australian Institute of Mining Engineers. He married Miss Vera Margaret Beauchamp, Wellington, New Zealand, in 1909.
