CONSTITUTION FOR INDIA
ATTITUDE OF CONSERVATIVES. FURTHER RESOLUTIONS WITHHELD. British Official Wireless. Rec. 5.5 p.m; Rugby, March 29. The central council of the National Union of Conservative organisations in London yesterday decided that no further resolutions on the subject of the new constitution for India should be considered by the organisation until the joint select committee of Parliament had made its recommendations on the Government White Paper. The motion to this effect was opposed by Mr. Winston Churchill, Lord Lloyd and others, who claimed it was right and the duty of the Conservative Party to discuss this problem at any meetings which the constituent bodies might desire. An amendment on these lines was defeated by 491 votes to 314.
