Grayling was hostess at a farewell party on Wednesday evening in honour of Miss Gwen Stephenson. Miss Helen Atkinson will leave to-day for Rangiora to spend a holiday as the guest of her sister, Mrs. G. Morgan. Miss Ella Horton, who has been visiting New Plymouth, left on Thursday for Wanganui on her return to Napier. Mrs. F. H. Chapman was hostess at a party on Wednesday night to farewell Mrs. A. R. During the week an enjoyable afternoon tea was given at the Chequers in honour of Mrs. Crozier, who will leave New Plymouth soon to take up her residence at Matiere.

W.C.T.U. MONTHLY MEETING.

A report on the recent Women’s Christian Temperance Union conference was submitted by the delegate, Mrs. O. Hartmann, to the monthly meeting at Hawera on Tuesday. Mrs. J. Exley presided. The report revealed an increase in membership and in subscribers to “The White Ribbon.” The national fair was a success,
