HALL SOCIETY’S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Otangiwai Hall Society was held in the hall on Tuesday March 20, when Mr. W. H. Lyon, chairman presided over a good attendance, In presenting the annual report and balance sheet, the secretary, Mr. T. B. R. Julian, reported another successful years’ activities. After the completion of the large new supper room at the beginning of the financial year, the society was a few pounds in debt, but during the year this had been paid off and a credit balance of over £l2 built up. The value of the new supper room and fireplace were fully appreciated during the winter when a series of 24 ' euchre parties had been conducted by the committee. These had been a great success both socially and financially. Recently a flag 500 evening was conducted with the object of allowing the settlers to choose whichever game they preferred for the coming winter. Work carried out by the committee during the year, included the making of new tables, painting of the supper room and renewing of fences round the grounds.. For the first time the annual Settlers’ Picnic held on Boxing Day was conducted by the Hall Society. ’ The picnic was a huge success and a profit of over £6 was made on the day. ■ The following Officers were elected:— President, Mr. E. Fauchelle; secretary and treasurer, Mr. T. R. B. Julian; auditor, Mr E. Sowry; committee Messrs E. C. Thomas, P. M. McDougall, C. Me Dougall, W. Ritchie, H. Fauchelle, and B. Wildbore. It was decided to' commence the annual series of card parties on Friday, April 20, and to conduct a series of 24 evenings, three of euchre and every fourth evening to be flag 500. The Kiwi Orchestra was engaged for the dance on Easter Monday, the proceeds of which are to be handed to the School ComArrangements were made for the carrying out of necessary repairs to the hall roof and tankstand, .s" ~ vd
