PROGRESS OF TOURNAMENT. MANY SEMI-FINALS REACHED. The Taranaki croquet tournament was continued at New Plymouth yesterday in good weather. Good progress was made, and it is expected the finals will be completed this afternoon, possibly late. Excellent form has already been shown in the games and particularly the semi-finals, and very keen matches are anticipated to decide the finals. One finalist and a number of semi-finalists have already been found. The results of yesterday’s play are:— Level Singles—Bisques 5-7. Mrs. Codd won by default from Mrs. Hollows. Mrs. Bellringer 26 v. The final was a most interesting game, as the closeness of the scores indicate. The hitting-in of both Mrs. Codd and Mrs. King was exceptionally good. Mrs. Codd was given a baulk ball, by means of which the partnership was able to win. Handicap jingles—Bisques 6 and Under. Semi-finals: A. J. Gibbs (,-i) 26 v.
