RECENT INDIAN ’QUAKE
WORK OF RECONSTRUCTION.
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN EVOLVED.
British Official Wireless. Rugby, March 5.
Replying to a question in the House of Commons regarding reconstructive works in process in relation to the recent earthquake Sir Samuel Hoare said a comprehensive plan had been worked out by the Government of India and the Government of Bihar in consultation covering the reconstruction of Government buildings, financial assistance to local authorities, and relief to private sufferers. A special commissioner had been appointed by the Bihar Government, and with the financial assistance given from Central revenues he had no doubt the work of reconstruction would be vigorously taken up.
