“NEGLECT OF TARANAKI”

REPRESENTATIONS OF MEMBER. GLARING INSTANCE OF TOURISTS. The alleged neglect of Taranaki by the Tourist Department, which had been the subject of resolutions by local bodies and newspaper comment both editorially and in correspondence, was brought under the notice of the Minister of Lands, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, by Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., yesterday. Mr. Smith said it would assist Taranaki a great deal if it could get a greater share of the tourist traffic. He knew the department could not make tourists come to Taranaki, but it could place under their notice Taranaki’s importance and value as a tourist and health resort.

The Minister promised to place the representations before the Minister concerned.

Almost without exception every exhibitor of pigs will be represented at the sale with splendid offerings. The show entries are a record and the auction entries will be a record also. Dairy farmers and all persons desirous of securing foundation or replenishing stock are afforded a splendid opportunity at this sale. The selection is unique in that only exhibits will be auctioned. Pigs of the highest quality are therefore available, drawn from the leading studs in Taranaki and the Waikato. As with all branches of stock-raising “the best are the cheapest’*- ~
