DIRECT SHIP SERVICE
AUSTRALIA TO MANCHESTER. London, Dec. 22. The trade paper Industrial Britain, announces that a direct shipping service from Australia to Manchester will shortly be introduced. The Manchester produce merchants have advocated the scheme for many years. Hitherto Australian imports to Britain travelled from Liverpool to London, and thence to Manchester by rail or road. Under the new arrangement, one boat monthly from Australia will call at Manchester.
