OPUNAKE LADIES’ GOLF

ANNUAL MEETING OF CLUB. The annual meeting of the Opunake Ladies’ Golf Club was held on Friday night Mrs. R. Morris presided. The president reported the season had been a most successful one in every way. Four inter-club matches were played, the club winning two and and losing two. ■Two challenge trophies were presented, making two further competitions for the season. A shield was presented by Mr. A. J. Brennan, and a cup by Mr. D. Fraser. Mrs. Brennan and Miss Trotter represented the club at Hawera, Mrs. Brennan winning a medal round. The competitions played were: Senior championship, won by Mrs. A. J. Brennan,' runner-up, Miss E.' Trotter; junior championship, Mrs. D. Thomas; run-ner-up, Mrs. H. Marcroft; A. J. Brennan Shield, Won by Miss E. Trotter; Fraser Cup, Mrs. A. J. Brennan; senior eceletic MisS E. Hinch, junior Mrs. Thomas; Hutton Cup, Mrs. Thomas; gross championship, Mrs. Parkes; hidden championship, Mrs. Thomas. The election of officers resulted: President, Mrs. R. Morris; vice-president, Mrs. J. P. Burton; club captain, Mrs. , D. Fraser; vice-captain, Mrs. H. Marcroft; secretary, Miss E. Trotter; committee, Mesdames Lambie, Brennan and Misses Taylor and Macßeynolds; delegates to men’s club, Mrs. Fraser and Miss Trotter; handicap committee, Mrs. Fraser and Miss Trotter. New members elected were Misses Wan and Lambie. It was decided that Wednesdays, be club days. The L.G.U. competitions are to be held on one Saturday and one Wednesday in each month. A rule was made that a ball striking a fence must be replayed, the ball to be dropped from the shoulder; also if a ball hits straying stock it can be replayed, the rule being optional. The meeting authorised the delegates to apply to the men’s club for a percentage of subscriptions paid by lady members. A letter was received notifying that a levy of 6d per member from all affiliated ' clubs was required towards the Aotearoa Cup competition.
