A movement is afoot to commemorate the coming 250th anniversary of Izaak Walton who learned the art of fishing in the county of Stafford, and the trustees of the Izaak Walton Shallowford Cottage and Museum Trust are to meet to consider the matter. The author of “Tire Compleat Angler” was born in Stafford in 1593. and learned to fish in the River Meece behind his cottage, now a museum.
