“HOLY SWORD” OF CZARS
ACCIDENTAL DISCOVERY IN WALL. MISSING’ ITEM OF CROWN JEWELS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Warsaw, Feb. 6. The missing “holy sword” of the Czars has been discovered built into a wall in the Winter Palace at Leningrad. The sword is as old as Romanoff history and is marvellously worked. It is a Cossack sabre with the pommell embedded with 36 large- diamonds, each commemorating a famous victory. , The sword was usually part of the Crown jewels, from which it was missing after the revolution. It was accidentally discovered during repairs to the wall. A card attached to the sword read: “The Holy Sword shall not fall into the hands of the enemy.”
