Mr. I. Moltke, Vice-Consul for Denmark at Sydney, arrived at Wellington by the Monowai on Tuesday on a holiday visit to the Dominion.
Mr. H. Tonkinson, C.1.E., C.8.E., of Burma, accompanied by his wife, arrived at Wellington on Tuesday on a holiday visit to the Dominion. Mr. C. A. Boles, Mayor of Taumarunui, is visiting New Plymouth. He is accompanied by Mrs. Boles, and they are staying at the Criterion Hotel. Private advice has been received at Auckland of the death in hospital in Malta of Mr. W. A. Home, a well-known Auckland land agent, states a Press Association message. Mr. T. N. S. Watt, Opunake, a former pupil of the New Plymouth Boys’ High School, who has been attending Otago University, has passed the examinations for the M.Sc. degree. Mr. H. Lyall, headmaster of the Dannevirke South school, has tendered his resignation, to take effect from March 31 next, owing to the state of his health, states a Press Association message. Having spent 40 years in the teaching service he is entitled, to retire. Guests at the Criterion Hotel, New Plymouth, are Mr. R. T. Reed, Hamilton, Mr. C. A. Boles, Taumarunui, Mr. H. McManaway, Wellington, Mr. Leith, Napier, Mr. A. Sharpies, Auckland, Mr. George L. Bradbury, Tuscon, Arizona, Mr. W. M. Paterson, Wellington, Mr. Dryberg, Wellington. Mr. T. Campbell, will leave to-day for Coromandel after residing at New Flymouth for 13 years, during which he took a prominent part in sports activities as a Taranaki Rugby representative, member of the Boxing Association executive and founder and president of . the Rowing Club. He was met last night by members of the executive of the Taranaki Boxing Association and several friends, on whose behalf the president of the association, Mr. J. Garcia, presented him with a self-filling gold pencil, expressing regret at his departure and wishing him success. Messrs. J. Austin and C. McLeod also spoke. Mr. Cajnpbell briefly, replied.
