KORU-KIRIHAU NEWS

MANY VISITORS TO KORU PA. The fine weather of the past week-end was responsible for the appearance of a number of cars and picnicking parties at Koru Pa. The ground has been a favourite spot for visitors throughout the school holidays. Country workmen have been at work on Koru Road, blinding the surface. For once the weather has proved not unsuitable and the road as far as the pa is in excellent order. Weasels are again fairly common in the district, and are causing concern for the safety of the younger stock in the poultry runs. The house which for some years past has been occupied by various teachers at Kirihau school has recently been dismantled, and followed many another mill house down Plymouth Road. Mr. R. E. Wells, who was until recently in charge of the school, has been transferred to Arawhata Road. Mr. G. Shepherd is in charge of the Koru school during the absence of Mr. H. J. Keys, who is attending camp with the Taranaki Regiment at Waipukurau. Harvesting activities are proceeding on almost every farm in the district. The season has been a good one for growth, and some heavy crops have been gathered.
