Victoria with nine wins and seven seconds beat Sydney with nine wins and five seconds for the Coombes Shield. To-day’s championship events resulted:— 220 yards: Yates (Victoria) 1, Dempsey (Queensland) 2, Moffatt (Victoria) 3. Won by inches. Time, 225. 880 yards: Irwin (Victoria) 1, All (Sydney) 2, Lowe (South Australia) 3. Time, Im. 56 l-ss. Discus throw: McKenzie (Sydney) 126 ft 7in 1, Callinan (South Australia) 124 ft 4fin. 2. Hammer throw: Rosenblum (Sydney) 142 ft Jin 1, McNamare (Queensland) 120 ft Sin 2, O'Brien (Queensland) 110 ft lin 3. Three mile run: Coleman (Victoria) 1, Barwick (Tasmania) 2, Brady (South Australia) 3. Won by 60 yards. Time, 14m. 49 2-ss. 440 yards hurdles: Golding (Sydney) 1, Watson (Victoria) 2, O’Brien (Sydney) 3. Won by three yards. Time, 545. Pole vault: Woodhouse (Victoria) 12ft 6 7-Bin 1, Harper (Victoria) 12ft 2. Hop, step and jump: Dickenson (Sydney) 1, K. Teague (Victoria) 2, R. Jelley (Tasmania) 3. Distance, 47ft 4Jin. In the walking championship Stubbs (Sydney) when leading by 30 yards was disqualified. The Olympic representative Barwick was again defeated by Coleman.
