Rookes lit a heap of dry ragwort beside a standing rimu on his mother’s property he little thought of the resulting consequences. Finding it- impossible to extinguish the blaze, Mr. Rookes with the prompt assistance of neighbours removed the stack from the danger zone into the next paddock, and by nightfall had it re-erected in its new position.
