AUROA CRICKET CLUB
SUCCESSFUL DANCE HELD. OVER FOURTEEN POUNDS RAISED. The funds of the Auroa cricket Club were augmented by a successful dance held on Friday evening, when visitors were present from all parts of the district. Hooker’s orchestra provided the music, and extras were played by Messrs W. Whalen and S. Gordon. Mr. B. Cameron, who did much to ensure the success of the evening, was secretary, and Mr. S. C. Wilkes master of ceremonies. The tables were nicely decorated by Mrs. C. Evans, assisted by Mesdames Schwieters and B. Cameron. The colour schemes in red and lemon, pink and lemon and orange and lemon respectively were most effective. Monte Carlo dances were won by Mrs. R. Muggeridge and Mr. J. Brown, Miss Loader and Mr. R. Cameron and Miss I. Campbell and Mr. McNeil Adams. Vocal items were given by Mr. Stuart Gordon, who also played selections of Scottish airs on a tin whistle and a mouth-organ, at the same time playing his own accompaniments on the piano. Mr. Schwieters, club president, thanked all for their attendance and help, especially the ladies for providing the supper. He presented Mr. S. Gordon with a gift from the club for his entertainment service. All sang “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” Mr. Gordon suitably replied. Over £l4 was taken at the doors.
