At the opening of the second session of the Coalition Government the Gov-ernor-General’s speech began with a note ' of thanksgiving for the conclusion of the most terrible drought ever experienced. The expansion of gold mining -had resulted in the employment of an additional 2730 Europeans. Referring to the good relations with the Dominions and*'foreign Powers, the speech foreshadowed legislation harmonising with the present constitutional position and regulating the King’s Acts, implying the introduction of a union seal.
