NO PROSPECT OF ELECTION
MR. DE VALERA’S CONFIDENCE. REVIEW OF ACHIEVEMENTS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rec. 7.5 p.m. London, Jan. 27. Mr. Eamonn de Valera, interviewed, said that after a year’s office everything was working out as anticipated. There was no prospect of an election but if one were held the Government would be returned with an increased majority. Speaking of achievements Mr. de Valera said he believed that when the Government ended its term, the Free State would possess well-balanced economy instead of the previous lop-sided insecurity. Farmers were benefiting during the current financial year by relief in taxes and land annuities to the extent of £5,500,000.
