THREE HOUSES ENTERED
MONEY STOLEN IN GILL STREET. MAN IN SOCKS OR RUBBERS. Burglaries were committed in three houses in GUI Street, New Plymouth, between 11 p.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. on Saturday, and more than £25 was stolop. From Mr. W. R. West’s house, No. 321, £l3 in notes and gold was taken, after which the thief visited Mr. A, Hartley’s boardinghouse at No. 246. From there he took £1 2s, including a banknote. The other place entered was the Carlton boardinghouse, from which over £lO was removed from two rooms. The thefts were apparently the work of one man. Because of the silent way in which he operated, it seems probable that the moved about in his stockinged feet, or in light-soled rubber shoes.
