CLOSING INEFFICIENT PLANTS ULTIMATUM TO TRADE IN BRITAIN. PROTECTIVE TARIFF EXPIRING. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rec. 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 27. The Daily Herald states that the Tariff Board has notified the steel industry that unless the scheme of reorganisation as prepared by the national committee of 1932 is immediately undertaken, the board will not recommend the continuance of the present tariff on imported steel which will expire in October. The scheme includes the gradual closing of inefficient and redundant plants.
