INCREASE IN REVENUE
OPERATIONS OF RAILWAYS * COSTS DOWN OVER NINE MONTHS. ADVANCE DURING LAST MONTH. BOARD’S ANALYSIS OF RETURNS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Mr. H. H. Sterling, chairman of the Government Railways Board, to-day announced the financial results of the railways* working up to January 6, for the four-weekly period which ended on that date. Revenue showed an. increase of £55,310 compared with the corresponding fourweekly period last year, and expenditure showed an increase of £5038, resulting in an increase in net revenue of £50,272. For the portion of the financial year from April 1, 1932, to January 6, 1934, revenue showed an increase of £164,241 and expenditure a decrease of £39,082, resulting in an increase in the net revenue for that period of the financial year of £203,323 as compared with the corresponding portion of the previous financial year.
