REARMAMENT OF GERMANY
DESIRES OF MUSSOLINI. London, Jan. 18. “I favour allowing Germany full defensive parity,” declared Signor Mussolini, in a special interview with Mr. Ward Price, on behalf of the “Daily Mail.” Signor MuSsolini added that since the Western Powers have formally recognised Germany’s 'moral right to equality, it is impossible to deny the logical strength of her demand for the right to equip herself with defensive armaments. He believes that Herr Hitler is making a sincere effort to divert the military energies of German youth to purposes of peaceful internal reconstruction. Regarding the proposed League of Nations reforms, Signor Mussolini explicitly denied all desire to bully or override smaller States.
