EARLY ARRIVAL AT WELLINGTON. DR. WALTER WILLIAMS, MISSOURI. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Jan. 25. Dr. Walter Williams, president of the University of Missouri, Columbia, U.S.A., who is on a tour of the world, is due to arrive at Wellington about February 20. Dr. Williams, who is better known as Dean Williams, is the founder of the first organised university school of journalism in the world offering a degree in journalism. The school was established at the University of Missouri in 1906, Dr. Williams is also the founder of the Press Congress of the World and was its first president, from which office he retired at the sessions held at Lausanne in 1926 and was succeeded by Mr. Robert Bell, Christchurch. Dr. Williams is accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Sockwood Williams, who is the author of “Twenty Years of Education for Journalism.” She is also a practical journalist and holds the BJ. degree.
