The Daily Mail in a leader extolls the strength and vigour of the British Fascists, and asserts that Sir Oswald Mosley is preferable as an Anglo-German negotiator to elderly politicians. The leader adds: “The Black Shirts offer at the next election the alternative to rule by Sir Stafford Cripps with a retinue of predatory Communists and revolutionary Socialists.” Lord Rothermere’s call to the people of Britain to face realities is approved by the Daily Mail, which says: “The Government is giving away India regardless of the bitter lesson taught by surrender to Sinn Fein. It has permitted its Air Force to sink to the lowest position among the great Powers. “Men and women who are tired of the old party methods have every reason to support Sir Oswald Mosley’s Black Shirts with enthusiasm. It is an organisation of youth controlled by young and alert minds. Its watchword is action, not drift.” SOCIALIST PARTY SUPPORT SPEECH BY SIR S. Dolan said that the party whole-heartedly supported Sir Stafford Cripps in his “Buckingham Palace” speech, as did the Labour Social Movement throughout the country. Sir Stafford Cripps, replying, said that in the event of a Russo-Japanese war the working class was of the opinion that Britain would solidly support Russia and take every step to prevent assistance to Japan.
