KIORE SCHOOL DANCE

PROGRAMME BY CHILDREN. An enjoyable evening was held in the Kiore hall when the school breaking-up ceremony was held., The children looked very gay in their fancy costumes and praise is due to both the children and the teacher for the way they sang and danced.

During the first part of the evening the children occupied the floor, after which the teacher presented each child with a book and Santa Claus gave them all presents off the Christmas tree. Special prizes were awarded to Ngaire Knox as dux of the school and Rene Patterson for the neatest work done during the year. Spot waltzes were won by Lydia Stockley and Bob Rowson and Marjorie Rowson and Campbell Patterson. On behalf of the school children William Stockley presented their teacher, Mr. Cartwright, with a present. The programme included songs by the children, recitation by Rene Patterson, solo by Mr. Fussell, duet by Miss Mounsey and Mr. Fussell; duet by Misses L. Knox and S. Mounsey, recitation by Dick Kemp and recitation by Joyce Kemp. Those in fancy dress were Molly Knox (Pierrette), Rene Patterson (Miss Pom Pom), Lydia Stockley (Poster), Joyce Kemp (Country Girl), Ngaire Knox (Dolly Varden), Olga Stockley (Port Wine), Marjorie Rowson (Gypsy), June Rowson (Japanese), ■ Cynthia Stockley (Carnation), Bill Stockley .(Absent-mind-ed Professor), Dick Kemp (Clown), Alton Kemp (Prince Charming), Bob Rowson (Chinese). Campbell Patterson (Scot), Malcolm Kemp (Toy Soldier). After supper the floor was cleared for the adults ' and music was supplied by Mrs. Catchpole and Miss Mounsey (piano), the Rev. H. S. Fussell (cornet), Mrs. Stockley (violin) and Mr. Patterson (accordion and mouth-organ). An extra was played by Mrs. Rowson.

Kiore Personal Items. Mr. and Mrs. McEwen have taken up residence at Kiore. Mrs. Chapman is staying at Kiore. Mr. J. Blake is spending his Christmas holidays with Mr. and Mrs. M. Knox.
