COUPLE SUFFER POISONING
TONGUE THOUGHT RESPONSIBLE.
BOTH ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL.
By Telegraph—Press Association.
Auckland, Last Night.
As a result of eating a cooked tongue which is thought to have been contaminated, a middle-aged couple, Mr. and Mrs. A. Neithe, Church Street, Onehunga, were admitted to the Auckland Hospital to-day suffering from ptomaine poisoning. The tongue, which had been cooked at home, was eaten at lunch, and while working in the garden late in the afternoon Mr. Neithe suddenly collapsed with severe pains. Medical assistance was obtained and he was ordered to hospital, but when the ambulance arrived Mrs. Neithe also was suffering from the effects of the poison and both husband and wife were taken to hospital. Their condition to-night was considered to be not serious.
