NEW PLYMOUTH RIFLE CLUB
HANDICAP COMPETITION DECIDED. SHOOTING AT THE SHORT RANGES. Shooting at short ranges was. continued by the New Plymouth Defence Rifle Club at Rewa Rewa on Saturday, when the distances were 300 and 600 yards. A handicap aggregate for' the first, third and fifth matches this season, comprising altogether two shoots at each of the ranges 300, 500 and 600 yards, was completed and resulted in S. Pruden, whose total was 292 J, winning by 2J points from F. Morris. Conditions on Saturday were pot of the best. There was a frontal wind, always rather more dangerous than that from the rear, and the heat caused a bad “mirage.” Scores -as a consequence were not particularly high, O. P. George and S. G. Higgs making the best off the rifle with 46 at the first range and 45 at the second. Detailed scores, counting for both championship and handicap competitions, are:-r
