JUNIOR RED CROSS CONCERT
EFFORT AT MOTUROA SCHOOL.
About 200 people were entertained at the Moturoa school on Friday afternoon at a concert by members of the Junior Red Cross. A penny admission charge was made and the proceeds, 15s, go equally to the Red Cross Society and the school first aid fund. Miss Edgecombe trained the children well for a small play given during the afternoon. The programme was: Orchestra, “The Happy Tinker”; -recitation, “Augustus,” Lewis Dutton; folk dancing, Standards 5 and 6; song, “Little ussy Willow,” Barbara Connett; recitation, “Fairies,” Rona Lynch; historical play, “Signing of Magna Carta,” Standards 3 and 4; song, “The Meeting of the Waters,” Hazel Grange; recitation, “Little Orphan Annie,” Mabel Smith; folk-dancing, Standard 1; piano duet, “The Peri Valse,” D. Holmes and E. Williamson; drill, Standards 5 and 6 boys; Maori song, P. Martin and N. Hardwood; recitation, “Paddling Pool,” E. Fitzpatrick. Mrs. E. Jacks was accompanist.
A small play, “Little Red Slippers,” waS given by Standard 1 pupils. The players were: Princess Rosemary, Ngaire George and Molly Kendrick; Susan, Rona Lynch; Timothy. George Wood; Shepherd, Ron Carr and Billy Connett. A cobbler's shop and two valley scenes were represented as the scenes.
