WIN MACHINE ABANDONED

RETURN TO OLD BETTING SYSTEM. DECISION OF NEW BRIGHTON CLUB. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Dec. 1. The committee of the’ New Brighton Trotting Club has decided to abandon the win totalisator machine and revert to what is virtually the old method of betting at the meeting on December 9. There will be only one pool. In races of eight or less starters two dividends will be declared on the same percentage as existed prior to the advent of the win and place system. In races where there are nine or more starters three dividends will be paid on a ratio of 70 per cent., 20 and 10. It is believed that other prominent trotting clubs will follow suit, the reason being the growing dissatisfaction among speculators with the present system.
