MATIERE MAIL SERVICE

RAILWAY DEPARTMENT AGREES. The possibility of an improved mail service was discussed by the monthly meeting of the Otangiwai Ratepayers’ Association. The secretary said he had been called on by Mr. Bond, traffic inspector of the Railway Department. The requests of the association for improved mail service would be acceded to by the de** partment if the postal authorities were agreeable. . \ It was decided to forward the following resolution io Hamilton: “As the Railway Department has agreed to erect a strong box for the delivery of mail at 5 a.m. and the collection of mail at 9.30 p.m. at Matiere, if the postal authorities agree, we ask you to make the necessary arrangements with the Matiere postmaster for this, and that the strong-box be cleared by 8.30 a.m." A copy of the resolution is to be sent to the Matiere Citizens’ League asking for its support.
