ASSISTANCE FOR PRODUCERS. EARLY ANNOUNCEMENT. An early announcement of the Government’s policy in respect, to the fertiliser subsidy for next year was sought by. Mr. C. A. Wilkinson (Ind., Egmont) in a question put to the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. C. E. Macmillan, in the House of Representatives on Thursday. In pointing out that the present arrangement expired at the end of December Mr.. Wilkinson said it was necessary that early intimation be. given as arrangements had to be made in advance by manufacturers as well as fanners and merchants. Mr. Macmillan replied that arrangements had already been made for * meeting with representatives of superphosphate manufacturers next week for the purpose of discussing the question of the subsidy for the remainder of the 12 months ending June 30. The policy decided upon by the Government would be announced as soon after this meeting as circumstances permitted.
