HUTMENTS NOT SUITABLE.

ELTHAM BOROUGH PROPOSAL. That the buildings were not suitable for their requirements was the report of the Mayor (Mr. I. J. Bridger) on an investigation of pottages and hutments at Tangarakau for the purpose of reerection at Eltham. The report was tabled at the meeting of the Eltham Borough Council last night. The Mayor said that some buildings which might have proved suitable Had been sold, but those remaining were not worth considering. This information could be conveyed to the magistrate who had made the suggestion. Councillor Gawith said he would object to the payment of expenses in connection with the inspection. He knew it would be only a waste of money. The Mayor replied that the deputation had been authorised by the council and was entitled to its expenses. PERSONAL ITEMS. Cr. A. G. STRATFORD SHOW RESULTS. The competition for the judging of the correct dead weight of a bullock, held in conjunction with the Stratford A. and P. Association’s spring show on Wednesday and Thursday, was completed last night and results were supplied by the secretary (Mr. W. F. Ross). Mrs. I. J, Hancock (Stratford) and Mr. W. Casey (Stratford) each judged the correct weight of the beast, 7271 b, and will share first and second prizes, gaining £2 10s each. Third prize was shared by Miss G. Bretherton (Stratford) and Mr. B. Jenkin (Stratford) who each guessed 7274 lb and will divide the third prize of I . •
