Flashing blue and scarlet in the sunlight until it disappeared in a cloud over Addington, a model aeroplane which was launched from North Hagley Park, Christchurch, recently, was lost to sight and could not be traced again. It had been in flight for eight minutes at the time of the last observation, but the pride of the owner, Mr. Bert Dacombe, a well-known designer, in its aeronautical capabilities was rather dimmed by the fact that its disappearance into the heavens meant the loss of the leisure hour labours of several weeks and a considerable outlay in materials. He had anticipated raising the New Zealand duration records with the model, which was of advanced design; now, unless a long chance should result in its being found somewhere between Addington and Lake Ellesmere, he has only the cold comfort of knowing that it was at least a good flyer. Mr. Dacombe lost .an aeroplane from Hagley Park in a similar fashion several months ago, but on that occasion it was recovered.
