HOLIDAY PROGRAMME
GOOD INFLUX OF VISITORS. LARGE NUMBER FOR AUCKLAND.’ General indications, particularly in the railway booking figures, are for a good influx of visitors to New Plymouth for the Labour Day week-end and a corresponding number of New Plymouth residents leaving to spend the holidays in other parts. A block booking of im- . portance is that of a pleasure party of 60 persons from Taumaranui who will arrive on Monday morning to spend the day at New Plymouth, and leave the same night on the return. There were 40 second class and ten first class passengers on the Auckland train which arrived Friday morning and an extra carriage had to be put on at Taumaranui. The train to Auckland last evening carried 88 second-class and 12 first-class passengers, two extra carriages being required. This is the best number that the new service has carried. Hotel bookings up to last evening were fair, with expectations of good increases . to-day with the many arrivals by car and train. There is, too, the undefinable but always substantial number of visitors and former residents who spend the Labour week-end with friends. at. NewPlymouth. The list of holiday fixtures is:— To-day.
