NEW PLYMOUTH WESTERN AREA. An enthusiastic meeting of the New Plymouth western area of the New Zealand Legion was held on Tuesday evening, when further proposals for the advancement of this movement were submitted. The secretary advised that numerous new. membership cards had been received. A special ladies’ committee is to be set up to enlist lady, members and organise meetings. ACTIVITIES AT STRATFORD. A meeting of members of the New Zealand Legion was held at Stratford last night with the object pf forming a Stratford sub-centre. The attendance was poor and it was decided to leave the matter over and follow a differentcourse of action.

Mr. W. E. Williams presided and explained that in the Stratford centre a provisional centre committee had been formed to organise the district and form sub-centres. The meeting that bight was to form such a sub-centre in Stratford and follow it up with the organisation of sub-centres in other parts of the Stratford district. Each subcentre would elect its delegates to the centre committee, and once those delegates were, elected the provisional committee would cease to function.

Members agreed that at present members who had joined up were apparently apathetic and it was decided to concentrate upon the country districts, establish committees and then try at Stratford again. '

Messrs. E. C. A. Gaw, R. G. Watson, and C. W. Morey were added to the provisional committee. A further meeting will be held within a month when it is expected the organisation of certain country districts with addresses by Dr. G. Home and Mr. I. Faris will be accomplished facts.
