VETERINARIANS BAFFLED
PILLOW FIGHT’S “RUNNING OUT.” DOCTOR TO DIAGNOSE CASE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 12.50 p.m. ‘ New York, Oct. 18. A Lexington (Kentucky) message states that Dr. Fraser A. Smith, a veterinary surgeon, announced to-day that he will leave on Friday for California to attend the New Zealand horse Pillow Fight, and diagnose the case, which baffles Californian veterinary surgeons. The horse has developed a habit of “running out” and pulling away from the inside rail of the track, which is uncommon among thoroughbreds and is usually caused by pain in the feet or legs.
Officials at the Tanforan track, where Pillow Fight is stabled, express the belief that Dr. Smith is being brought to Tanforan for the purpose of firing the gilding. Turf enthusiasts agree that Pillow Fight has not shown his true worth.
