Sympathy with Mr. D. Hedges, Scoutmaster, in tire death of his father recently was expressed by the West End school scout and cub committee last night Mr. J. McLeod left New Plymouth yesterday to attend a meeting of the executive of the Racing Conference at Wellington.
Mr. W. T. Wells, a member of the New Plymouth Harbour Board, is indisposed and was unable to attend yesterday’s meeting. The chairman of the New Plymouth Harbour Board (Mr. C. E. Bellringer) is at Wellington, where an Important meeting-of the Harbour Boards’ Association was held yesterday in connection with State competition with coastal freights. Mrs. F. T. Wimble, who died a few days ago at her home at Sydney, aged 87 years, was the wife of Mr. F. T. Wimble, founder of the firm of Messrs. F. T. Wimble and Co. Ltd., of Australia and New Zealand. She was widely known throughout tire State, and had many personal friends in other States and New Zealand. She is survived by her husband, one son (Mr. George B. Wimble) and two daughters (Mrs. Cleveland and Miss Ethel Wimble). M. Hill, whose death occurred recently, was a' well-known and highly respected resident of Puniho, where he had resided for over 40 years. Mr. Hill, who' was aged 64, was born at Bell Block, a son of Mr. Inkerman Hill. As a young man he took up farming in the Puniho district and was also for many years a foreman under the Parihaka Road Board, later doing considerable road contracting. He is survived by his widow, four daughters and three sons. His eldest son enlisted with the Main Body and was killed on Gallipoli.
