“BACK-TO-CHILDHOOD” BALL

OAKURA TENNIS CLUB DANCE. There was a large attendance at the second “back to childhood” dance held in the Oakura hall last night in aid of the funds of the Oakura Tennis Club, which proposes to establish courts in the district, A number of those present were attired in the garb of their early days, and as they entered into the spirit of the evening carefree abandon of school girls and boys a happy time was spent. The bran tub, which was controlled by Mrs. Harvey and Mr. C. Pease, proved Very popular with the “juveniles.” Music for the dance was provided by Boulton’s Dance Band, extras being played by Mrs. H. Corbett. Miss N. Staveley and Miss I. Allen, who had charge of proceedings, saw that all enjoyed themselves. For nondancers progressive euchre was provided in the supper room under the supervision of Mr. W. K. Morris. The prize-winners were Mrs. T. H. Price and Mr. C. W. Grey (after a re-play with Messrs. G. H. Bell and W. Young). The supperroom had been decorated with Iceland poppies and oak leaves. Supper was served by the committee, assisted by Mrs. Harvey and Miss M. Price. The committee comprised Misses I. Allen (secretary), N. Staveley, M. Rusling, V. Price, Messrs. D. Harvey (president), F.. Bagley, C. Jans, C. Pease and .L. Rusling.
