BASKETBALL DANCE. The Mahoenui basketball dance last Friday night was a distinct success. The hall was gaily decorated with streamers in the club's colours, blue and orange, with fems and cherry blossom as a picturesque background. A large attendance included visitors from Mokau and Awakino. Mr. S. Roberts was master of ceremonies. Among those present were: Mesdames Hansen, Mokau (brown dress), Avery (brown with orange), J. Old (fawn), Ridling (black with rose cape), Summers (beige), Alomes (orange satin), R. Rattenbuzy (Horal merve), R. Old (pink satin), Wetere (black with gold), Misses Hansen (blue crepe marocain), McCrae (black satin), Ferguson (floral georgette, red coat), Worboys (striped taffetas), Roberts (striped crepe suede), M. Rattenbury (floral georgette), Scott (lemon crepe de chine), Moir (pink crepe de chine), Abraham (shell pink georgette and net), P. Roberts (floral rayon), Davidson (lemon satin), B. Moir (pink satin), J. MacKenzie (royal blue, black coatee), Mullins (blue brocaded satin), J. Moir (mustard satin), J. Ratterbury (blue satin, black cape), H. Moir (white satin)/ Eketone (blue crepe de chine), Wetere (black marocaln). Dramatic Society. A few weeks ago the Mahoenui Dramatic Society staged the amusing one-act farce, “House to Let.”' Those who took part were the Misses Worboys and Davidson and Messrs. S. Roberts, G. Prior and J. Davidson, with Mr. J. C. Moss as producer. Each role was portrayed in a capable manner and the play was appreciated by a large audience. At the conclusion of the performance supper was served and the hall cleared for dancing. A Collapsible Stage. A working bee recently made improvements to the public hall. A number of movable seats were made and a collapsible stage that can be swung back against the wall so that it does not encroach on the dancing space. Personal Miss Tate, Waltara, is the guest of Mrs. A. Old. . Miss J. MacKenzie has returned after spending three weeks at Wellington. Messis. L. G. Purdie, A. C. Moir and A. Old are on a motor tour of Dannevirke and the surrounding districts. Mr. W. Gellatly will leave to-day to spend a few days with his parents at Kilbimie, Wellington.
