COUNTRY CRICKET GAMES

COMPETITION OPENS TO-DAY. The North Taranaki Country cricket competition will open to-day, when six teams will take part in the Saturday division. Tikorangi A will play Brixton A at Brixton, Tikorangi B will play Brixton B at Tikorangi, and Tarurutangi and Urenui will meet at Urenui. Tikorangi and Brixton are to be commended on their initiative in each entering two teams to give their young players a game. , The following teams have been chosen to represent Tikorangi: A team: O. Foreman, V. Foreman, E. Foreman, B. Foreman, A. Foreman, J. Sarten, S. Cole, C. Hoyle, R. McKenzie, G. Jupp, P. G. Sarten: B team: C. Foreman, G. Foreman, E. Smith, M. Faull, J. Purdie, R. Hicks, W. Johnson, A. Davidson, A. Soffe, W. Soffe, M. Sarten. A feature of the Tikorangi team is again the number of members of the Foreman family taking part, -seven beng in the two teams. The A team contains three sons and three nephews, of the veteran C. Foreman, who has joined the B team and is replaced in the A team by his nephew, A. Foreman. With that exception, the A team is the same that won the championship last year. The B team also looks a strong one, including a number of promising young players, as well as some new men, W. Johnson and E. Smith, the last-named, who has played in the Wellington district, being a good wicket-keeper, a forceful bat and a useful bowler. •
