WHANGAMOMONA SHOW

SPRING FLOWER DISPLAY. EFFORT BY WOMEN’S DIVISION. The quality of the blooms at the spring flower show at Whangamomona more than compensated for the small entries. The show was most successful and was well attended. The Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was responsible for the show and its efforts were well rewarded. The trophy given by Miss Main for the champion bloom was won by Mrs. W. Rice. Other trophies were given by Mesdames Stockwell, O. Coxhead, Brereton and C. Watters. Competitions were won by Mrs. Perry (nail-driving), Mrs. Catchpole, Mrs. Proffit, Miss M. Anderson (cake weight guessing), Mrs. Buchenham, Miss D. Stockwell (pea guessing). The stall holders and those in charge of competitions were: Mrs. Stockwell (sweets), Mesdames A. Coxhead and L. Robinson (produce) Mesdames Proffit, Aagaard, Long, Ostler, Summerhays and Nurse McCarrol (afternoon tea), Mrs. Proffit (nail-driving). The judges were Messrs. J. and A. Ostler.
